Atlanta Sod Co.

Sod installation and bulk sod delivery, done right the first time — not squeezed between a mowing route.

A patchy yard, bare red clay after a renovation, or a lawn that never came back from last summer. We install and deliver sod across Atlanta and metro Atlanta with turf cut fresh for the job, not pulled off a pallet that has been sitting on a truck for a week. Bermuda, Zoysia and Centipede — one crew, one flat price, and a one-year establishment warranty on every install.

What we do

Sod services in Atlanta, GA

One dead patch or a full-yard resod — same crew, same standards. Every job starts with a look at the soil and the sun exposure so we are not laying fresh sod over problems that kill it inside a month.

Sod is the only thing we do. Not full landscaping, not weekly mowing, not tree work that sod gets squeezed in around. That focus is why we can tell you within a few minutes of walking your yard which grass and how much prep actually make sense. Across Fulton County and the surrounding metro we have installed everything from tight intown front lawns on compacted clay to acres of HOA common area — different soil, different sun, different answer, and a flat written price for all of it before any work starts.

The difference

Patchy and bare, or fresh and finished

Drag the handle. A dying lawn lets red clay show through in bare patches and weeds move in — which is when a yard starts looking neglected no matter what else is done to the property.

Before After

What we check on every job

A sod job that looks bad by fall almost always fails for one of four reasons. We check all four before quoting, so the number you get is the number you pay.

  • 01
Old lawn conditionDead grass or thatch left underneath keeps new roots from reaching soil. We strip it when it needs stripping.
  • 02
GradingLow spots that pond water rot new sod from below, especially on slow-draining clay. We check grade before quoting.
  • 03
Irrigation coverageNew sod that misses a sprinkler zone browns in patches within a week no matter how well it was laid.
  • 04
Material freshnessWe schedule delivery to match install day, not sod that has been sitting stacked on a pallet losing color.

Handles bulk delivery, spot repair and irrigation checks. One sentence on what they are known for beats a paragraph of adjectives.

An Atlanta crew, not a call center

You talk to the person who will be in your yard. We know which intown lots hold water on red clay and which north-metro slopes need Zoysia instead of Bermuda.

Sod ordered fresh, not stockpiled

We schedule delivery to arrive for your install day. Pallets that sit stacked for a week lose color and start heating up internally before they ever reach your yard, and we will not lay that.

Storm-season scheduling

Summer downpours can wash out freshly laid sod on a graded slope that has not rooted yet. We schedule around the forecast, not around it.

One dead patch is a real job to us

Plenty of companies will not come out for a single repair. We will, and we will not pad the price to make the trip worth it.

Drainage problems named up front

If a yard sits low and holds water we say so during the estimate, not after we have collected for sod that rots in the next storm.

Clean site, every time

Old sod scraps and debris leave with us. Beds and hardscape go back where they were. The driveway gets blown off before we pull out.

Questions

Atlanta sod FAQs

Most sod jobs in metro Atlanta land between $0.55 and $1.25 per square foot installed depending on grass type, so a typical 5,000 sq ft yard runs roughly $2,750 to $6,250. The spread comes down to Bermuda, Zoysia or Centipede, how much old lawn needs removing first, and yard access. We quote a flat written price on site so the number does not move.

A standard residential yard is usually a same-day job. Full-property renovations and lots with heavy old-lawn removal typically run one to two days. We give you a realistic window at the estimate rather than promising same-day on everything.

Yes, and we do not inflate the price to make the trip worthwhile. Spot repairs and single-section patches are common and priced fairly, not by a minimum-job markup.

For most full-sun metro Atlanta yards, Bermuda is the reliable default — it tolerates heat, drought and Georgia’s clay-heavy soil better than most warm-season turf. Zoysia is the better call where a softer, more shade-tolerant lawn matters more than fast recovery, and Centipede suits low-maintenance yards on acidic clay where minimal upkeep is the priority. We will recommend one based on your sun, soil and how the yard gets used, not the one with the best margin.

We check grading and drainage on every estimate and flag yards that hold water, and we do offer lawn prep and grading as a standalone service. If a yard needs major regrading beyond standard prep we will tell you plainly before quoting sod, because fresh turf laid over a wet, low spot just rots and needs replacing sooner.

Bermuda needs full sun to thrive and will thin out under regular shade. Zoysia tolerates light shade reasonably well. Centipede handles partial shade better than Bermuda but still wants a good amount of direct sun. We will tell you honestly during the estimate if part of your yard is too shaded for any warm-season grass to hold up long-term.

Yes, there is nothing toxic about fresh sod itself, but we ask everyone to stay off it except to water for the first two weeks so roots can establish. Foot traffic before that can pull pieces loose before they have rooted into the soil.

Yes, if it is graded and laid right. The biggest risk is not the rain itself but sod laid on an ungraded slope with no staggered seam pattern to hold it in place. We check slope and drainage on every estimate specifically to handle metro Atlanta storms.

Only for the estimate and the final walkthrough. Once the price is approved, most customers hand off yard access and go about their day. We text you when we arrive, when we finish, and if anything unexpected turns up in the yard.

Yes. Bulk sod delivery-only is a listed service if you or your crew want to lay it yourselves. We deliver fresh-cut material timed to your install day, not off a pallet that has been sitting for a week, by the pallet.
