A newer lot further out with a fresh, open grade is a much simpler call, and Bermuda is usually the right answer there without much debate.

Centipede also comes up more often in Marietta than in some of our newer-build service areas, mainly because established, older Marietta properties are more likely to have the kind of acidic, unamended clay soil that Centipede tolerates without the lime and fertilizer correction Bermuda and Zoysia need on the same ground. For homeowners on a budget who want the lowest-maintenance option and are not chasing a manicured, tight-cut look, we will walk through whether Centipede fits their specific lot.

Watering new sod through a Marietta summer

The watering schedule for new sod does not change city to city — twice daily for the first week to ten days, then once daily, then a normal established schedule — but older Marietta properties sometimes have irrigation systems that were installed or last serviced years ago and no longer cover the yard as evenly as they once did.
